The Provincetown International Film Festival invites you to bask in the beauty of Cape Cod for five relaxing summer days of original and independent filmmaking. The quality and breadth of our programs offer more of what makes Provincetown famous: artistic adventure, intriguing entertainment, and a fun, friendly social scene.
The Festival was first
produced in 1999, the same year Provincetown celebrated its 100th anniversary
as America's oldest art colony. Today, the renowned Festival remains dedicated
to showcasing independent American and international films, nurturing aspiring
independent filmmakers, honoring industry luminaries, and preserving and sustaining
cinema as an art form through educational forums.
Provincetown is the perfect location for filmmakers and attendees to rub elbows. You'll meet many Festival-goers on the streets of this small village. As a leading film critic said of the Provincetown Festival, "It's like Cannes or Sundance used to be. Here you can run into everyone!"
With more than 50 Festival films and programs, there's so much to discover amid the excitement of Provincetown.
As America's oldest
continuing art colony, Provincetown beckons the curious, artistic, and playful.
In this spirit, the Festival presents a vibrant and nostalgic selection of
films and programs that reflect Provincetown's rich tradition of diversity,
creative expression, and enlightenment. The town welcomes and calls you to
celebrate filmmaking from around the world, and life on magical Cape Cod.
