PROVINCETOWN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES A $650,000 CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
TO PURCHASE AND RENOVATE THE WHALER’S WHARF CINEMAS

– February 9, 2010 (Provincetown, MA)—Gabrielle Hanna, Executive Director of the Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF), announced today that the not-for-profit organization has reached an agreement with Whalers Wharf LLC and will move forward in its efforts to purchase the Whaler’s Wharf Cinema on Commercial Street in Provincetown, Mass. PIFF plans to operate the complex on a year round basis: expanding its film programming, broadening its Film Society base and housing its executive offices. The group will collaborate with other local organizations for their events to be held in the space as well.

PIFF has one year to raise $450,000, the purchase price of the space. An additional $200,000 is needed for renovations, equipment updating and operational costs. Fund-raising events are being planned at this time to take place in Provincetown, Boston, New York City, Fort Lauderdale and elsewhere across the country.

Hanna says, “I am thrilled to announce these plans. PIFF will become a vital part of the year-round arts community and economy of the Outer Cape. To accomplish this achievement I have enlisted the help of these amazing people below, who will serve on my Capital Campaign Committee. John Waters (Chair), Jerry Anathan, Mary Cardaras, Michael Carroll, Judy Cicero, Marty Davis, Lin Gentemann, Jeff Hill, Anne Hubbell, Denise Kasell, Vicky Keith, Evan Lawson, PJ Layng, Martina Lynde, Richard J.
